Message I've been building his engine for his car when I have time to, and have been doing some different things for R&D purposes - always trying to bring new things around.. :)

At NOPI 2003..

This engine is fully built:
88mm Z1/Wiseco pistons
Pauter Rods
Cryogenically treated block, crank, rods
Massively ported heads
1mm oversized intake and exhaust valves (Ferrea)
Ferrea dual-coil springs
Z1 500 cams
Tomei solid lifters
Greddy TD06-20G turbo kit
Electric water pump
Tomei adjustable exhaust cam gears
Z1 Adjustable VTC gears

...and there's a huge FMIC (same as on the peacemaker)Custom Z1/Howe radiator for our FMIC setup

..and here's the adjustable VTC gears I fabbed up..

The nice thing about the 94 VTCs is that they are adjustable from the factory, but not quite as much as you need(or want), and they aren't adjustable from the front. You have to pull them off to adjust them as the bolts that hold the gear to the center hub are on the backside of the part.. But, I used longer bolts and welded 10mm nuts to the ends of them and ground off the excess weld.. Now they are adjustable from the front and dont require you to remove them. I also used an engraver to mark the hub with degree marks and put a single notch in the gear for the alignment marker.. Cleaned them up with some brake parts cleaner and hit them with some rattlecan paint..

The nice thing about making the factory VTCs adjustable rather than replacing them with aftermarket adjustable gears is that the aftermarket parts do not have VTC. VTC allows you to generate more torque through the low and mid RPM range by advancing the intake camshafts, and then release the advancement at high RPM where advanced intake cams will begin to hurt torque production. With these, you have the best of both worlds...

I'm not far off from this engine being ready to drop in.. Just the turbo oil return lines need to be fabbed up and a thorough check to make sure things are right and she's ready to install...
